Here at ZoCo we LOVE coffee, we love Columbus, and we like to play as hard as we work. Inspired by the Columbus Coffee Trail, we decided to have one of our morning meetings at a new coffee shop every month. Getting out of the office is a great way to give your brain a break, support local shops, and maybe even get new business. We’ve only had good experiences at the different coffee shops we’ve visited, but here are some of our favorites.

Staufs

Stauf’s Coffee Roasters
December 3, 2014

Stauf’s is a regular stop for the ZoCo team. A two-minute drive to the cafe makes it our go-to spot in Grandview. Stauf’s Grandview is by far the more spacious shop we’ve visited so far, but still gets full quickly, so get there a little early to find a spot. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed; the perfect place to sit down and get some work done. They offer pastries, in-house roasted coffee, and fast wi-fi. An iced coffee is recommended if you’re looking for a good dose of caffeine.

Fox In the Snow

Next we have one of our favorites–Fox in the Snow. This Italian Village shop was one of our first stops and we’ve been back for at least 4 morning meetings. The carefully crafted coffee, the atmosphere, the new patio, and the always fresh display of amazing pastries keep us coming back again and again. This is a great place to go with friends and grab a snack. Being a very popular shop, it can sometimes be difficult to find seating. One downside of having meetings here is the lack of wi-fi, so come prepared!

Tommys Diner

Tommy’s Diner
February 6, 2015

This is one spot we visited, not so much for the coffee, but for the atmosphere and the great breakfast. Tommy’s diner is a classic spot in Franklinton that offers a kick of nostalgia. The restaurant looks like it’s straight out of the 1950s, covered in Coca-Cola branded items and old celebrity memorabilia. The employees treat you like family–and feed you like family too! This is a good place to meet one-on-one with a friend and grab a delicious meal.

Roosevelt

Roosevelt Coffeehouse
May 15, 2015

We visited Roosevelt not long after they opened shop. After hearing about their interest in social impact, we were really excited to grab a cup of coffee and learn more. Roosevelt is bright and open with plenty of seating including a conference room in the back. This business is heavily involved in the Columbus community and partner with companies and organizations that are doing good for the community, with focuses in areas such as access to clean water as well as fighting hunger and human trafficking. We can definitely get behind a business like that and are always happy to be back to enjoy another coffee.

Luck Bros

Luck Bros’ Coffee House
August 7, 2015

We visited Luck Bros’ Coffee House right after baby Zoey was born where she joined us for her first ever coffee meeting—It was a big day for all of us! The in-house roasted coffee was fantastic and the shop was bright and welcoming, with great vinyls playing in the background. The shop is not too far from our office in Grandview but it is a little small even for a team of our size.

Uppercup

Uppercup Coffee Co
October 2, 2015

Located in Olde Towne East, Uppercup was a great host for our October morning coffee meeting. It’s a smaller shop but we found a comfortable spot on a leather couch in the back that was big enough to seat our whole team. Their Pour Over, made with in-house roasted beans, was the perfect drink to warm us in the fall chill of October. This is a great cozy spot to grab one of their delicious breakfast sandwiches, relax, and admire all of the unique African artwork hanging on the walls.

Kaffeehaus

Das Kaffeehaus
November 5, 2016

Das Kaffeehaus is another team favorite because of its close proximity to the office. Located inside of Zauber Brewing on 5th avenue, Das Kaffeehaus is a convenient little stop that serves great coffee. Their employee’s are friendly and have gotten to know us over our many visits. Because the cafe is located inside of the brewery, this makes for a great meeting spot because of the long tables and plentiful seating as long as your meeting is pre-happy hour. They also sell really great cake balls!

redvelvet

Red Velvet Cafe
December 4, 2016

We visited Red Velvet Cafe downtown in the middle of winter and were warmed by their delicious coffee and avocado toast. Red Velvet Cafe offers pastries, Filipino-inspired sandwiches, coffee, and tea—this cafe has really great bubble tea and avocado toast. This shop is also another small one, but we were there early enough to grab a table for our team. We’re very excited for the opening of their new restaurant in Grandview.

Equivita

Equivita
January 7, 2016

Equivita is the new kid on the block–literally! Located just down the road from our office, Equivita offers a great menu of food, health-conscious snacks, and perfectly brewed coffee. This stop is another that offers a great avocado toast—our favorite. It also doubles as a massage therapy and fitness center. We’re excited to see how they grow!

pistacia vera

Pistacia Vera
February 4, 2016, May 5, 2016

Our team has visited Pistacia Vera in German Village on more than one occasion. How can you blame us for falling in love with those beautiful macarons? If you haven’t been to Pistacia Vera, you’re missing out on some of the best pastries in town and coffee that’s just as delicious. We’ve never struggled to find seating in this shop, the service is always great, and the atmosphere is relaxed. We have heard that their main brand attribute is, “grace,” and you can tell why as soon as you step foot inside their store.

brioso

Brioso Roastery and Coffee Bar
April 2, 2016

One of our more recent stops was the new Brioso Roastery and Coffee Bar. The nice long community tables offer plentiful workspace. They played great music and kindly explained the differences in the types of coffee they offered. Brioso is a coffee staple in Columbus and knows everything there is to know about a good cup o’ joe. Definitely stop by Brioso if you want coffee done right.

Columbus has some of the best coffee shops around and while we haven’t made it to every shop in the city, it’s our mission to do so. Each one is better than the last and we always look forward to getting out of the office for a bit and waking up to the smell of coffee before starting our day. Tweet at us for suggestions on where we should go next!
